Julie Simpson

Director

Advisory Services l Medical & Healthcare Practice

Julie has dedicated her career to supporting healthcare professionals and helping practices thrive, by combining her background in education, business operations, and financial analysis with a genuine passion for the medical, dental, and surgical fields.

Although she did not begin her journey in accounting, Julie believes she is exactly where she is meant to be. Encouraged early in life to pursue medicine, she instead explored teaching, business leadership, and finance before discovering her true professional passion in 2010 when she joined an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice. That experience sparked a deep appreciation for clinical practice management and the opportunity to support providers in delivering exceptional patient care.

Today, Julie is proud to continue serving the medical and dental community from within an outstanding accounting firm. She partners closely with healthcare leaders, offering insight, guidance, and operational perspective that help strengthen practices, enhance efficiency, and support smart financial decision-making. Julie values relationships, collaboration, and service, and she is committed to making a meaningful impact on the professionals and organizations she supports.

My favorite memory of 2025- Time with my kids at my daughter's beautiful wedding in Vermont

If you were not in Accounting, what profession would you most enjoy being in? Why?

Unlike most of our MarkhamNorton team, I came late to the accounting field. The beauty of my role is that it allows me to continue to pursue my passion for supporting doctors and their teams.  I love that I am able to continue to be an impactful resource to the medical and dental community from within an exceptional accounting firm!

What was one of your first jobs? How did it impact you?

One of my first jobs as a young teenager was helping my Dad in his tool and die shop with payables and payroll. We had one of those vintage check imprint machines where you moved levers to the appropriate dollars and cents and then pulled the handle with a satisfying cha-chunk. This is where I initially discovered that I had a love of numbers and office operations. My other two jobs as a teenager were in food service and retail, which taught me where I didn’t want to be!

What things do you enjoy doing outside the office?

Spending time with my grown and flown son and daughter and their loves, continuing to build our family memories. Quiet time to read and write. Cycling with my CRBC friends. Travel adventures with family and friends, near and far.
